The State Emergency Service of Ukraine neutralized, in Vyshhorod, a set of cluster munitions carried by a Russian Shahed drone.
The device hit the roof of a residential building but did not explode, allowing rescuers to locate the main warhead and 21 submunitions with self-destruct mechanisms, as well as another one found in the courtyard.
According to the teams, this type of munition is designed to maximize damage and complicate expert intervention, as the explosive fragments are activated along with the main warhead. To eliminate any risk to the population, the area was cordoned off and residents on the upper floors were evacuated during the operation.
The deactivation work involved drones and a specialized robot, responsible for collecting the devices and placing them in a secure container. All explosive material was transported to a suitable location and destroyed through a controlled detonation.
